8:1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
8:2 And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
8:3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
8:4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Leprosy was a dread disease back in those days. See Leviticus 13 (KJV) for the law about diagnosing leprosy, and what lepers were to do. Basically, lepers were kept apart from the rest of the tribe until their diseases were gone away.
Jesus touched the ill man, and healed him. Everybody else would have avoided touching the man. Jesus then told the man to go and see the priest so that the priest could declare him clean and he could rejoin the tribe. The law about purification after leprosy can be found in Leviticus 14 (KJV)
Our sins are much like the leprosy the man had. The man knew that he couldn't cure his leprosy, so he asked Jesus Christ to cure him. We can't cleanse ourselves from sin, so we should ask Jesus to save us from sin.
God bless you.
