6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
In Matthew 6:19-24, Jesus taught us that Christians should do the opposite of what many people in the world do. Rather than building riches on earth, we should build riches in heaven. Many people spend all their time trying to get more money, and no time building a good relationship with God. Once these people die, their money will be worthless to them. Keep your eyes on the prize! Build up your treasure with God.
You might think you can devote yourself to making money and serving God, but Jesus tells us that this is not so. You can't serve two masters; you can't serve both God and money. Ask yourself honestly how much time you spend earning money compared to how much time you spend doing God's work, praying, and studying your Bible.
God bless you.
