5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
5:40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.
5:41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
5:42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
In ancient times, people would kill each other for many things. The law: "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" was given by God to Moses to make punishments fit the crime. Jesus taught us that the cycle of revenge must stop. As Christians, we can stop it by not resisting evil. If somebody hits you, let them hit you again. If somebody sues you to take something off you, give them that and more. If somebody forces you to go a certain distance with them, go twice as far. If somebody asks you for something, give it to them. This is not a normal human reaction! You will need to pray to God to give you the strength to do this. Your rewards in heaven will be much more than you can ever lose on earth.
God bless you.
