Satan tempted Jesus to try to stop Jesus's mission of saving the world from sin and evil. Fortunately for us, and unfortunately for Satan, Jesus resisted the temptations, remaining sinless. See Matthew 4:1-11 (KJV).
4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
4:11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Jesus had fasted for forty days and forty nights, so he was hungry (Matthew 4:2). Satan tempted Jesus by suggesting to him that he could make some stones turn into bread (Matthew 4:3). Note that Satan recognised Jesus as the Son of God. Jesus replied that food wasn't everything a human needs to live, the words of God are much more important (Matthew 4:4). He was quoting Deuteronomy 8:3 (KJV), in which Moses was reminding the Israelites of the consequences of not following God's Law, before they entered the Promised Land. They had been wandering in the wilderness for forty years until all the people who rebelled against God died. During this time, they ate manna:
8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live. Here we can learn that even though being hungry is natural, and we have to eat, it is important that we don't commit sins to get food. Similarly with our other bodily desires, we need to make sure that we are following God's will when we satisfy those desires.
Satan took Jesus to the top of the highest tower of the Temple at Jerusalem (Matthew 4:5). Satan suggested that Jesus should jump off the tower, because angels would make sure that he wouldn't be injured. Satan was quoting Psalm 91:11-12, which says:
91:11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.Notice how Satan knows the Bible and can quote from it, but he doesn't obey the Bible. Satan doesn't do the will of God. Jesus replied by quoting Scripture back to Satan: "Thou shall not tempt the Lord thy God". This verse can be found in Deuteronomy 6:16 (KJV):
6:16 Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. This means that you shouldn't deliberately put yourself into a dangerous situation to find out if God will save you. God loves you. You don't need to test God.
Satan took Jesus up onto a high mountain from where he could see all the countries in the world (Matthew 4:8). Satan told Jesus he would give Jesus all those kingdoms, if he would worship Satan (Matthew 4:9). Jesus refused, again quoting Scripture to Satan. This time Jesus used Deuteronomy 6:13 (KJV):
6:13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.Don't worship Satan, don't worship money, don't worship power. Only worship God. Serve only God. Don't serve anything else, not money, not power, not Satan, nothing. Worship and serve God.
God bless you.
